You might have heard the term “solopreneur” being thrown around a bit as of late. This isn’t necessarily a new term but many people still aren’t familiar with what a solopreneur is. Basically, a solopreneur is an entrepreneur who works alone and doesn’t ever intend to hire anyone else to help. Some people also simply refer to these people as entrepreneurs but there are a few differences between a solopreneur and an entrepreneur who just works alone.
Solopreneurs Are Passionate About Their Businesses
For the most part, solopreneurs are passionate about their businesses. Some people might start a business and hope to be bought out by a larger company. They’re looking for a big payday and are hoping to be able to grow a business to a certain point. Solopreneurs are different because they truly care about what they’re doing and they become very attached to the businesses that they are running.
Solopreneurs Usually Only Run One Business
Typically, solopreneurs are going to be so passionate about their field of expertise that they will only run one business. This one type of business is going to be everything to them professionally. Many entrepreneurs are capable of branching out and running multiple businesses at the same time. Solopreneurs tend to be more focused on one goal and business type.
Solopreneurs Are Workers
An entrepreneur isn’t necessarily going to be a worker. A solopreneur is going to do the actual work that is required to keep the business going. An entrepreneur might hire people to handle the work while he or she acts as the face of the company. The solopreneur is much more involved in the day-to-day operations of a business because he or she is the sole engine that keeps the company moving.
Knowing this, it’s easy to see why the term solopreneur has become more popular as of late. There are many business owners that fit the definition of a solopreneur. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or a solopreneur, it’s easy to see that running a successful business is going to take a great amount of effort. Business success doesn’t come easily but having the will to keep striving toward your goals will help to see you through to the end.
